The fifth volume of the Synthphony REMIXed! compilation series features Krister Petersson of Chinese Theatre taking on the remixing duties, and remixing a very wide range of bands. From the Electro-Industrial of A New January to the Futurepop of Syrian and the pure synthpop of Hype, there's a very wide range of styles covered here. All the tracks are given a heavily analogue remake by Krister.

All of the remixes here are exclusive, and have not been released elsewhere as far as I know. There are several projects here that are completely new to me, such as Julian Brandt and Basswood Dollies, as well as the more familiar Syrian and Estatuas De Sol. The opening track, "Rip Your Heart Out" is a wonderfully poppy track, and the remix makes it a ultra-bubbly synthpop track, which makes the vengeful lyrics stand out even more. Excellent! An New January's "Heartburst" is given a very unusual tack, with a almost hip-hop approach to the percussion combined with the buzzing analog synths and scratching. Also remixed here are the 80's cult band The Twins in a fun and danceable electroclash-esque remix. I could keep going on about each individual track, but that'd get really repetitive. All the remixes here are excellent, simply put.

The simplest way I can put this is that I could find nothing negative at all to say about this compilation of mixes. The Basswood Dollies song is not to my taste personally, but otherwise this is a outstanding compilation with excellent remixes. Highly recommended!
